Volunteer Opportunities

“Volunteers are not paid- not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.”  Author unknown.

The Newcastle Elementary PTSA depends on volunteers like you to be able to provide our events, services, and programs to students, teachers and families through-out the school year.  We encourage every parent to volunteer, whether you have many hours to give or just a few.  You will find information about volunteer opportunities through:

  • The Volunteer Opportunities Form which comes home in the first school day packets.  This form describes volunteer opportunities anticipated through-out the year.  You simply mark those volunteer activities that you think you can help with and send the form back to school with your child.  The information from this form is provided to the chairpersons of the various committees.

  • The weekly school & PTSA newsletter, PTSA Cub Mail E-news, and room parent E-mails.  Through-out the year, as volunteer needs are identified for PTSA programs & events, requests will be sent out through the newsletter and e-mails.
  • Program Chairs. If you know of a PTSA program that interests you, please contact the program chairperson directly for more information on how you can help out.

Remember that parents & guardians, relatives including grandparents, and community members are all welcome to volunteer to help.  If you need help identifying a good volunteer opportunity for your schedule or interests, or if you just need more information about current volunteer opportunities, please contact Lynne Hepp at thehepps4@msn.com .

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, have fun and also benefit the school community.

New Auction Chair!

We are pleased to announce that Sherrie Corrington has generously agreed to be our new Auction Chairperson for next year's 2011 auction! If you are interested in volunteering for the auction, please contact Sherrie directly at sherrie.corrington@comcast.net Congratulations and thank you Sherrie!

Back to School...

Summer tans, new shoes, seeing old pals...  Those are just a few things that come to mind when you think of "back to school" in September.  But put yourself in the shoes of a Kindergartner or new student, and you will find you may be nervous, lost and that buying lunch is a daunting process!  We are looking for at least six "guides" for morning d/o and afternoon p/u,as well as, five lunch helpers.  These are fun jobs, especially for parents of children in Kindergarten!  If you'd like to volunteer to help during the first few weeks back to school, please contact Sharon Levy by June 1st at info@newcastleptsa.org

2010-2011 PTSA needs you!
Volunteering is a great way to show our children we support them and their education. The PTSA cannot provide anything for our school without its volunteers. Whether helping for an hour a year or several hours a month, volunteers are the lifeblood of Newcastle's PTSA. Research proves that parent involvement has a positive effect on student success. When parents are involved in their children's education their student achieves more, the school performs better and the moral of the teachers improves. Ultimately, communities are stronger when parents are involved. Please contact Staci Schnell staci@maildrop.org if you would like more information about getting involved. I'm looking for a Co-President next year too! Please call 425-687-0807 so we can talk!
